Discover some of the world’s most extraordinary landscapes and the beauty of Canada while relaxing in world-class comfort and sampling delicious locally inspired cuisine onboard the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer train.
There are three breathtaking routes to choose from in Canada, with each one offering you the chance to see unique sights while you receive luxury service from our dedicated hosts. You can also choose our USA journey, Rocky Mountaineer to the Red Rocks.
You’ll be able to choose either SilverLeaf or GoldLeaf service as you relax onboard our glass-dome coaches while travelling through Canada’s majestic mountain ranges and remarkable areas unreachable by road on this rail experience of a lifetime.
Scenery
Canada is home to some of the most remarkable and incredible sights in the world. During your Rocky Mountaineer train journey, you’ll experience majestic mountains, beautiful lakes, deep canyons and vast forests. The beauty of the Rockies is unparalleled and as your train rolls through the landscape you’ll have the perfect view from the luxurious comfort of your train.
If you’re lucky enough you might just spot some of the stunning wildlife to be found in Canada including bear, elk, deer, moose, bald eagles, osprey, salmon, mountain goats and bighorn sheep. But remember these animals can be unpredictable, so there are no guarantees that they’ll make an appearance.
Culinary
The delicious food you’ll receive while onboard your Rocky Mountaineer train is regionally inspired and features local flavours and ingredients. You’ll enjoy breakfast and lunch served at your seat in SilverLeaf Service and with Gold Leaf you’ll be seated in a lower-level dining area. Throughout your journey you’ll receive complimentary gourmet snacks as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Service
From the moment you step onboard your Rocky Mountaineer train you will receive the highest standard of service from the friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic hosts. Whether you need help with special requests or require extra assistance during your journey, staff will be on hand to ensure your holiday is a memorable one. You’ll also be able to ask any questions and hear stories from the hosts as the train travels through each unique and stunning location. And, of course, if you need your wine glass topped up then all you need to do is ask...
Socialising
Whether this is your first time experiencing a journey onboard a Rocky Mountaineer train or if you’ve travelled on one of the magnificent routes previously, you’ll be able to share your highlights and connect with fellow travellers from all over the world while being blown away by the stunning views and landscape in the Rockies.
Trains
The Rocky Mountaineer trains offer comfort and luxury during your journey across the breathtaking landscape. The glass-dome coaches allow you to take in the panoramic views – and you can get even closer to the scenery by moving to the outdoor viewing area. If you’re travelling with GoldLeaf Service you’ll be catered in a bi-level dome with seating on the top level and the dining area below. For SilverLeaf customers you’ll travel in a custom-designed single-level dome. All customers will be able to sit back, relax and admire the stunning views in reclining and comfortable pre-assigned seats with ample leg room.

Every year the Rocky Mountaineer season runs between April and mid-October. All of the routes operate in daylight hours and there are no options to stay on the trains overnight. You’ll stay in comfortable accommodation at the halfway points of the rail journeys in Kamloops, Quesnel, Glenwood Springs and Whistler. Travelling during spring, summer and autumn gives you best opportunity to enjoy full days when the locations are at their boldest and brightest.
Our My Canada Trips experts don’t just know Canada – we love it. During your booking process you’ll have a designated Canada expert who will guide you through each stage of booking your Rocky Mountaineer train trip. Our experts have travelled throughout Canada and know this beautiful country inside and out. We’ll answer your questions with facts – not guesses. Q: Do I sleep onboard the Rocky Mountaineer?
A: No, Rocky Mountaineer is an all-daylight train. You will disembark in Kamloops or Whistler and Quesnel on the Rainforest to Gold Rush route and be transferred to your hotel. The hotel is provided by Rocky Mountaineer and is confirmed when you check in with Rocky Mountaineer.
Q: What happens with my luggage onboard the Rocky Mountaineer?
A: Your luggage will be transferred separately to your mid-point stop and final destination. When you check in at one of the guest centres you will be provided with a Rocky Mountaineer luggage label. It will then be transferred separately from the train. We recommend packing a small bag for the train including any essential items you may require throughout the day.
Q: Which route is the best on Rocky Mountaineer?
A: All three routes Rocky Mountaineer offer provide spectacular scenery of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, with the Rainforest to Gold Rush route having an extra day on the mountains. Traveling in either direction provides spectacular scenery. Departing from Vancouver you will leave the city behind and begin to witness the landscape change as you approach the Rocky Mountains. Traveling from Banff or Jasper, you will begin in the mountains onward to the vibrant city of Vancouver.
Q: When is the best time to travel on the Rocky Mountaineer?
A: The Rocky Mountaineer schedule operates from the end of April to mid-October, with June and September being two of the most popular months. Travelling in September into October, you will have the opportunity to see the fall colours begin to appear. At the start of the season in April and May you’ll witness the beginning of spring with snow-capped mountains and the lakes beginning to melt. In July and August enjoy summer in the Rockies and you can add your Rocky Mountaineer journey onto the Calgary Stampede in July.
Q: Is the Rocky Mountaineer Accessible?
A: Yes, the Rocky Mountaineer is wheelchair accessible. Rocky Mountaineer provides wheelchair accessibility for guests who do not use a wheelchair full-time. A hydraulic lift allows you to board the train in your own wheelchair, provided it is 23 inches wide or less to fit through the doorway. Once on board, Rocky Mountaineer can transfer you to a 15-inch-wide wheelchair designed for easier movement along the railcar aisle.
For guests who use a wheelchair full-time, Rocky Mountaineer facilitates boarding via a hydraulic lift or ramp. Your wheelchair must be 23 inches wide or less to fit through the doorway. Full-time wheelchair users can be accommodated in SilverLeaf Service, where tie-downs secure your wheelchair for the journey. Meals will be served at your seat, and you will be assigned to a train car equipped with an ADA-compliant washroom featuring wider doorways and grab bars for added convenience.
After you have comfortably boarded the train, your wheelchair will be transported separately to your destination ready for you when you arrive. Wheelchairs will need to be able to fold down into pieces of 50lbs or less for the health and safety of the employees transporting them.

Booking of Rocky Mountains tour and Alaska cruise.
The whole experience of booking was painless and the agent who looked after me, Cheryl, was helpful and it was obvious throughout our discussions that she had detailed knowledge of the area I was looking to visit. Cheryl put me under no pressure and ensured that the trip I booked reflected my requirements and provided excellent advice I feel confident that I will be looked after before and during the trip.

We chose My Canada Trips because the proposed itinerary was just what we were looking for. Booking was super easy and Cheryl, who handled our booking, made suggestions and alterations to the trip that suited us better as we wanted to spend an extra day in Vancouver. Cheryl talked us through the itinerary and had extensive knowledge of the area so that helped! Looking forward to the trip and would recommend giving them a go.

A professional but personal approach to customers
Overall a very professional service. The agent I dealt with over a few days was excellent, she listened to my needs, provided a number of dates to travel, offered invaluable information and advice on the local areas we wanted to visit. Once we knew the journey that suited us best she provided draft itineraries with quotes to support within the timeframe we agreed. Following a final check of the itinerary with the agent we confirmed a booking. Nothing was too much trouble, and documentation came through quickly.
