Rocky Mountaineer and Canadian Heli-Hiking

Begin your itinerary in the town of Banff watch the sunrise over Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, we have also included admission to Banff Gondola and Hot Springs. Take to the sky in your helicopter transfer to Bugaboos Lodge, here you will be staying in the wilderness of the Cascade Mountains. Each day you will be transferred by helicopter to a remote location where you can enjoy exploring hiking trails around the mountains returning in the evening to relax at the onsite spa facilities and enjoy a gourmet meal.

Board the Rocky Mountaineer in Banff onboard this scenic train taking in the spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. Arriving in Vancouver it’s time to enjoy sometime exploring the city, we have included a tour of the city’s highlights - visiting Stanley Park, Gastown and Granville Island. After some time in the city return to the wilderness at Sonora Island. Staying at Sonora Resort a luxury wilderness lodge, during your stay keep an eye out for wildlife including whales, dolphins, and black bears.

Day 1 - UK to Calgary

Arrive in Calgary Airport taking your transfer to your Banff Hotel.

Day 2 - Moriane Lake & Lake Louise

This morning enjoy a early start to watch the sunrise over Moraine Lake. On this small group experience, you'll have exclusive access to Moraine Lake, now closed to public vehicle access, where your expert local guide will show you to the best locations to watch the sunrise hit the glaciers above The Valley of the Ten Peaks and the stunning Moraine Lake. Sip on a hot chocolate, coffee or tea as you eagerly await the sunrise under a blanket (all complimentary) and utilize your expert local guides' photography skills & knowledge to fine-tune your camera settings for an amazing sunrise photoshoot. Then, explore the trails of Moraine Lake before all the big buses arrive. Travel through backroads where bears, moose, and elk can often be seen starting their day, on the way to Lake Louise Village where a delicious hot café breakfast awaits. After fuelling up for the day, you'll make your way to Lake Louise, well before the buses arrive to enjoy what remains of the early tranquillity and witness the lake at its calmest, resulting in perfect mirror images of Victoria Glacier and the Rockies reflecting back at you across the neon blue waters.

Day 3 - Banff to Bugaboos Lodge

Begin today with a dynamic warm up class before a hearty breakfast to set you up for your big day. Taking to the ski soar over the mountains on a helicopter dropping you off to for your next day of hiking. There is variety of hikes you can explore ask the local guide for which recommendations on which routes you can take. At lunch time enjoy your pack lunch which is provided at breakfast to fuel up before your afternoon hike or return to the lodge to relax. In the evening enjoy swapping stories of your adventures over a delicious gourmet prepared meal.

Day 4 - Bugaboos Lodge

Day 8 - Rocky Mountaineer Banff to Kamloops

Travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer from Banff to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. Your journey takes you through a spectacular array of scenery as you travel between the glacier and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranch lands of the interior. Today’s highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, the Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass and Craigellachie – where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven.

Overnight in Kamloops. Breakfast and Lunch included.

Day 9 - Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Vancouver

Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. On today’s journey, you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your rail journey ends on arrival in Vancouver this evening.

Day 10 - Vancouver City Highlights Tour

Today we included a Vancouver City Highlights tour allowing you to see the best of the city!

Prepare to experience the unique history and unfolding splendour as you tour through the modern streets of Vancouver. Drive by the most renowned sights and learn how Vancouver became the city it is today. Situated on the edge of the Pacific Ocean and framed by British Columbia’s imposing mountains, it’s easy to fall in love with this astonishing city. Drive through historic neighbourhoods such as Gastown, Chinatown, scenic English Bay and the picturesque Vancouver Harbour. Stops in Stanley Park feature Indigenous Peoples’ Totem Poles, spectacular views of the mountains and the Lions Gate Bridge. Also includes the opportunity to wander through the charming farmer’s market at Granville Island.

This afternoon transfer by helicopter or float plane to Sonora Resort on beautiful Sonora Island. The island is an absolute jewel amidst the wild beauty and pristine waters of British Columbia’s West Coast. After your arrival, get settled and explore the resort before you enjoy a delicious Pacific Northwestern gourmet dinner.

Day 13 - Sonora Resort – Eco Adventure Tour

Embark on a thrilling 1-hour Eco-Adventure Tour aboard an 8.53m Zodiac boat, accompanied by your knowledgeable wilderness guide. Zip around the Discovery Islands for exceptional views of marine wildlife in its natural habitat and rugged B.C. coastline as your guide offers informative narration through a headset system. Later, perhaps embark on an excursion to explore the abundant, untouched wilderness of British Columbia.
