Laura kayaking at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Ever since I was little I had a holiday brochure in my hand planning where I wanted to travel.
I previously lived in Toronto so I will always be very fond of the city, one of my favourite things to do when visiting is taking the water taxi across to Toronto Island and relaxing with a book by the beach overlooking the incredible city skyline. I have been with our company for over 20 years and have been fortunate to travel across Canada from East to West, taking in Vancouver Island, Whistler, Vancouver, the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer, Edmonton, Banff, Jasper, Canmore, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal to the Atlantic Canada provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
It is hard for me to tell you my favourite place in Canada as there are honestly so many, each offering something different. A stay at Great Bear Lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest is one of my highlights - from landing by floatplane at the remote lodge to viewing bears in their natural habitat to driving the coastal Cabot Trail in Cape Breton and Nova Scotia.
My top tip is when visiting Western Canada add on a night or two in Canmore and at least a couple in Whistler, both are beautiful with so much on offer. And always make sure you add on a food and walking tour as it is a fantastic way to meet with the locals, enjoy their cuisine and learn all about the area that you are visiting. Lastly make sure you visit the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in winter which is personally when I feel it is prettiest with the lake frozen and you are surrounded by the snow-capped mountains.”
