I’ve had a passion for travel for as long as I can remember, which led me to study travel and tourism at both college and university. Since then, I’ve spent the past three years working in the industry, specialising in Canada a destination I’ve truly fallen in love with over the years.

One of my favourite experiences was taking the VIA Rail train from Vancouver to Jasper. There was something incredibly special about relaxing onboard to the gentle rhythm of the tracks and then waking up to the breathtaking scenery of the Rockies. From there, I continued through the Canadian Rockies from Jasper to Banff along the Icefields Parkway, which was unforgettable especially spotting wildlife like moose and bears along the way. I’ve also been lucky enough to explore the prairies of Saskatchewan, where I learned more about First Nations culture and experienced life on a ranch. Another memorable trip combined Toronto and Niagara Falls with New York State, travelling on Amtrak’s Maple Leaf Service a really relaxing way to experience both Canada and the USA in one journey.

I’m a big fan of solo travel. I love the freedom it gives you to explore at your own pace, choose where to eat, and shape your trip exactly how you want it. I always recommend trying a solo trip, even if it’s just a short getaway and I love catching a local theatre performance where I can.

If you’re heading to Canada, my top tip would be to pack layers. Temperatures can change quickly, especially between morning and evening, so having an extra jumper on hand makes all the difference. And don’t forget a reusable water bottle you can easily fill it up at your hotel before heading out for the day.
