Q: What should I wear on the train and the ship?

A: Rocky Mountaineer has a casual dress code, so you can wear clothes that you feel most comfortable in. It’s best to wear suitable shoes to keep you steady with the train’s motion. Onboard the ship it can be chilly when you step outside, so a fleece or jumper and windproof jacket should ensure you are comfortable. Each cruise line will have it's own dress code, speak to our Canada Experts for more details. 

Q:  Will I see wildlife during the trip?

A: Nature can be unpredictable, but you will be unfortunate if you don’t spot wildlife at some stage on your Rocky Mountaineer and Alaska Cruise journey. Along the way keep your eyes peeled for the likes of bears, elk, deer, moose, bald eagles, and whales. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars!

Q: Do I require a visa?

A:Yes, you will need to obtain two authorisations as you will be entering Canada and the USA. For Canada you will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). For the USA you will need an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA). Both must be purchased online in advance and will be electronically linked to your passport, which you will also need to bring with you.
