Day 1 - Fly to Saskatoon

Arrive in Saskatoon, collect your car hire and make your way to your hotel. 

Welcome to Saskatoon! Saskatchewan’s largest city is described as the best of both worlds – dynamic urban energy in sync with nature. Saskatoon itself delights with its picturesque cityscape. Seven bridges cross the South Saskatchewan River, which meanders through the city, earning it the nickname “Paris of the Prairies.” In the evening, enjoy the sunset while strolling along the scenic riverside walks.

Day 2 - Wanuskewin Heritage Park

Today explore Wanuskewin Heritage Park, a National Historic Site that sits above the Opimihāw Valley and the South Saskatchewan River near Saskatoon. Wanuskewin has been a sacred gathering place for more than 6,400 years for the Northern Plains Indigenous people. Today the park aims to teach visitors about their cultures, traditions and rich history Visitors can enjoy a variety of walking trails throughout the park including the Bison Viewing Trail where the bison conservation herd can be seen, or explore the visitors centre for guided programming, curated interactive exhibits, art galleries, videos and presentation spaces.

Throughout the year there is are a variety of events which take place. One highlight is Han Wi Moon Dinner which is designed to delight the senses and celebrate the Northern Plains people, landscape, ingredients, and culture. Beginning with a guided walking tour of the site, you will learn about the culture and history of the land, continuing to the Tipi Village where you will be served your meal, finishing with dessert overlooking South Saskatchewan River and Opimihāw Valley.

Day 3 - Saskatoon to Historic Reesor Ranch (274km)

Today’s drive takes you through the rolling prairies along to Historic Ressor Ranch. The next three days are yours to explore this beautiful landscape on horseback during the day, and spend the evenings living the social life of a Canadian cowboy.

Day 4 - Historic Reesor Ranch

The next two days are a time for relaxation, rejuvenation and discovery. For over 120 years, the Reesor family has shared the legacy of ranching in western Canada at this historic Cypress Hills property. Accommodation is in the secluded Cowboy’s Cabin, complete with a private BBQ deck, firepit, air conditioning, and spring-fed water. Delicious meals are served in the Ranch Hall Grill, including hearty ranch-style buffet dinners featuring AAA Canadian roast beef and classic sides. All meals included.

Day 6 - Historic Reesor Ranch to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park (96km)

Depart Historic Reesor Ranch and drive to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.Towering hills, lush forests and fescue prairie land provide breathtaking views. Guests can enjoy exploring the great outdoors by participating in a variety of local activities including canoeing, fishing, boating, birdwatching or enjoying a hike around the various nature trails.

Day 7 - Explore Maple Creek

Enjoy a day of exploring. The “Hidden” Conglomerate Cliffs are well worth the hike for the great photo opportunities. We recommend visiting Fort Walsh National Historic Site, which transports visitors back in time to the 1870s. Take a guided tour of the fort and hear the stories and legends from this fascinating period in Canadian history. For a taste of cowboy culture, drive to Maple Creek, which was named Canada’s Greatest Western Town in 2014. Explore the streets of Maple Creek enjoy visiting local shops or enjoy something to eat at the local restaurants and cafes.

Day 8 - Maple Creek to Moose Jaw (342km)

Moose Jaw is, by far, one of the friendliest cities in Canada. Its downtown is characterized by heritage buildings, boutique-style shops, and unique attractions that examine the city’s fascinating history. The Tunnels of Moose Jaw are located beneath the downtown streets that, according to legend, were a hangout for the infamous gangster Al Capone during the Prohibition era. (Tour not included). Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa is famous for its natural geo-thermal mineral pool.

Day 9 - Explore Moose Jaw

A full day to explore the sights of Moose Jaw.

Moose Jaw is the mural capital of North America with 47 murals located across the city, pick up a mural trail map from the visitor centre and explore the cities amazing artwork. Travel outside of Moose Jaw to Buffalo Pound Provincial Park only a 20 minute drive from the city. Enjoy a plethora of outdoor activities from hiking, mountain biking, fishing and kayaking.

Day 10 - Moose Jaw to Regina (71km)

Travel to Regina the capital of Saskatchewan! Home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The iconic Mountie in red serge is Canada’s most recognized symbols, next to the Maple Leaf flag. The Wascana Centre and Victoria Park are some of the cities highlights and create place to visit.

Day 11 - RCMP Heritage Centre

Today we have included admission to the RCMP Heritage Centre. Visit the galleries to explore over a century of RCMP history, from the formation of the North-West Mounted Police in 1873, to the modern-day Mountie. Guests of the RCMP Heritage Centre can experience both the historical and modern-day stories of the RCMP through a variety of traditional and state-of-the-art exhibits, a virtual and augmented reality experiences, and live events.

The Centre is located on RCMP Academy, Depot Division land, where Mounties have trained since 1885. The Heritage Centre is operated by a non-profit organization and supported by the RCMP’s Historical Collections Unit.
