Day 1 - UK to Toronto

Arrive at Toronto Airport and transfer to your downtown hotel.

Day 2 - Explore Toronto

Alongside Toronto being a bustling city, it is filled with Indigenous heritage to visit. Enjoy some First Nation’s cuisine in at Tea-N-Bannock where you will find a mixture of traditional dishes and some with a modern twist including Bison Burgers, Elk Stew, Navajo Indian Tacos and more.

Visit the Art Gallery of Toronto home to a collection of North America First Nation artwork here you can learn about First Nations culture and history through traditional artwork.

For an immersive Indigenous experience visit the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto here you an join a guided tour of the centre here you will learn more about First Nations culture through the extensive art gallery, learn about the language spoken and watch traditional events. The tour is free however donations are recommended to help preserve the artifacts and centre.

Day 3 - Toronto to Ottawa

Today make the drive to Canada’s capital Ottawa.

Ottawa is filled with First Nation’s history and culture visit some of Ottawa’s museums and galleries which feature a First Nation’s exhibit including National Gallery of Canada, Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa Art Gallery and Canadian War Museum.

Across Ottawa there is a range of monuments across the city dedicated to the cities First Nation’s people. National Aboriginal Veterans Monument located across from the Lord Elgin hotel this dedicated to Indigenous people who fought in the First and Second World War. Across from the Canadian War Museum is Pindigen Park it celebrates the Anishinabe philosophy of harmony between people, land, water and earth. You’ll find interpretive panels in Algonquin, English and French, as well as illustrations and steel silhouettes of Canadian animals.

Day 4 - Explore Ottawa

A full day to explore the city of Ottawa for guided walks allowing you to gain more insightful knowledge of First Nations culture with Indigenous Walks exploring the social, political, and cultural monuments. Guided tour can be booked locally.

Day 6 - Ottawa to Wendake

Today, make your way from Ottawa to Québec City to visit the community of Wendake (located just 15 minutes from Quebec City). Your home is the chic luxury Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations where you can visit the contemporary Huron-Wendat Museum, dine on gourmet-traditional Indigenous meals at award-winning restaurant La Traite, and enjoy daily cultural programming in the community longhouse.

Day 8 - Wendake to Montreal

Today make the journey to Montreal. On route stop at Abenaki Museum the first Indigenous Museum to open in Quebec in 1965, filled with information and interactive exhibits to learn more about First Nations culture across Quebec. Entrance fee can be paid locally on arrival.

Day 9 - Explore Montreal

If you happen to be visiting Montréal in August, join Montréal’s First Peoples festival, a multidisciplinary event that celebrates Indigenous cultures from throughout the three Americas. You may also wish to visit the L’Espace Culture Ashukan Gallery which showcases the Indigenous arts and cultures of both Québec and Canada.
