UK citizens do not require a visa to visit Canada, however they are required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation before flying to Canada.
The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a convenient authorization that that is electronically linked to a traveller’s passport. It is similar to systems in place for travel to the USA and Australia.
The eTA can be applied for online at www.Canada.ca/eta. There is an application fee, currently $7.
Most applications are approved within minutes, but it may take longer if you are required to submit documents, so we recommend applying as soon as you have booked your flights.
An eTA can be valid for up to five years or until your passport expires. If you get a new passport, you will need to get a new eTA. With a valid eTA you can travel to Canada as often as you want for short stays (normally for up to six months at a time).
Visa and eTA requirements for citizens of other countries may vary. See the Canadian Department of Citizenship and Immigration website for details: www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp
