Stunning sights await around every corner in St. John’s

The picturesque capital of Newfoundland and Labrador is bursting with character and charisma. One of the best ways to explore the city is by foot as you wander the narrow streets and hidden alleyways. The streets of The Battery are lit up by brightly coloured houses – known as “Jellybean Row” - which sit on steep hills rising above St. John’s harbour area. For spectacular views of the city and coastline, you can hike to the top of Signal Hill, which is home to the iconic Cabot Tower, a castle-like structure built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot’s discovery of Newfoundland. The name says it all. From spring to September, the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador offers fantastic opportunities to see icebergs up close as they drift down from Greenland. The town of Twillingate is known as the “Iceberg Capital of the World” and from here you can enjoy tours where you can learn more about the history and formation of icebergs. Whether you are observing from land as you hike along one of the many trails, or sea as you hop onboard a boat which takes you closer than ever to icebergs, the scenery along the coastlines is spectacular and unique.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-visit during your holiday in Newfoundland and Labrador.
