Western Trails -a superb western USA Fly Drive Holiday.

 

This stunning Western Trail showcases the United Sates wealth of natural beauty in all it’s splendour. Commencing from Salt Lake City in Utah, collect a car and head  North through Idaho, traversing the towns of Lava Hot Springs, Boise, and McCall, enroute to Coeur d’Alene, part of the Lewis and Clarke Trail. Next stop is Glacier National Park in Montana with it’s stunning scenery and diverse choice of activities. Continue onwards to the Iconic Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, the jewels in Wyoming’s crown, home to wildlife, geysers and picture-perfect mountain ranges.

Day 1 - Salt Lake City

On arrival into Utah’s State Capital, Salt Lake City, transfer to your downtown hotel. Head to Temple Square for a free guided tour to learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, view the exterior of Salt Lake Temple and stroll through the pristine gardens.

Day 2 - Lava Hot Springs

Take Logan Canyon Scenic Byway to Bear Lake State Park to catch your first glimpse of untamed Idaho. Make a stop in Soda Springs to view the world’s only captive geyser. In Lava Hot Springs enjoy a soak in the natural steaming waters.

Day 3 - Boise

Enroute to Boise admire the towering spires and unique rock formations of City of Rocks. In Boise visit Idaho State Museum for a fascinating insight into the story of Idaho, then enjoy a drink and evening meal on Eighth Street.

Day 4 - McCall

Take one of the Boise Township Tours or head to the the indoor/outdoor World Center for Birds of Prey to meet eagles, owls, vultures, hawks and falcons. Travel north to McCall on the shores of Payette Lake.

Day 5 - Coeur d’Alene

Visit Nez Perce National Historic Park to learn about the Nez Perce (Nimiipuu) people, who the Lewis & Clark Expedition considered the most hospitable tribe they met. In Coeur d’Alene watch the sun set and moon rise over one of the many lakes left behind by the glaciers from the ice age

Day 6 - Glacier National Park

Make a stop in Wallace, dubbed the Centre of the Universe, then head into Montana to spend the next two nights in the pretty mountain town of Whitefish, gateway to Glacier National Park.

Day 7 - Glacier National Park

Discover glacial-scoured valleys, towering peaks and tumbling waterfalls. Drive the magnificent 53-mile Going-to-the-Sun-Road keeping an eye out for grizzly bears, elk, mountain goats and bighorn sheep. Return to Whitefish to enjoy a local tipple.

Day 8 - Helena

Take a boat tour through the Gates of the Mountains, a dramatic stretch of the Missouri River. In Helena, wander around the blocks of Last Chance Gulch and pop into the impressive State Capitol Building.

Day 9 - Yellowstone National Park

Walk the terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs before heading into the Lamar Valley in search of wildlife – keep your eye out for wolves, bison, coyote, bears and more.

Day 10 - Yellowstone

Day 11 - Grand Teton

To the south of Yellowstone, drive the 42-mile Scenic Loop of Grand Teton National Park. In Jackson saddle up at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar or enjoy live music at the world-famous Silver Dollar Bar.

Day 12 - Casper
