Motorhome Pick-up FAQs

It is strongly recommended that you pick up your vehicle the day AFTER arrival in Canada.

When can we pick-up the vehicle?

You can select your pick-up time during Online Check-in (which opens 5 days before pick up). To ensure a smooth and efficient operation, there are a range of pick-up times from morning through to late afternoon. Pick-up times vary from station to station and depending on how many pick ups are due. Early Pick-up times are available before 12:30 for a $75 charge, standard pick up times are from 13:00 onwards and have no charge.

We recommend if you are wanting a particular pick-up time, to commence online Check-in as soon as possible to have the widest choice of times. Unfortunately pick-up times cannot be booked outside of Online Check-in. Guests are encouraged to arrive on time for their chosen pick-up slot, so our Cast can help them get on the road as quickly as possible.

How long will a pick-up process take?

Having completed Online Check-in prior to arrival at the station, RV Pick up takes approximately 15-20 minutes. With all guest information, important documentation signed, demo videos watched, security deposit paid and any extras purchased at Online Check-in, the time for pick up is greatly reduced and the guest simply completes their self-guided RV tour and damage inspection prior to setting off. CanaDream is happy to offer a one-to-one Personal Demonstration (for a fee of $50) which takes up to 30-45 minutes. You can pre-book this service at the time of booking or during Online Check-in.

The CanaDream team are happy to answer any questions guests may have prior to setting off on their road trip.

Allocating this amount of time ensures that all your questions can be clearly answered and that you are fully aware of how to operate your vehicle before you leave on your trip.

In what condition will I receive my vehicle?

The motorhomes will be “ready to go” when you receive them. They will be thoroughly cleaned, with fully charged batteries, full tanks of propane, and empty holding tanks. If you have chosen to include our convenience kit option, we will ensure that they are complete and that they have been placed in your vehicle.

We would like to pick-up or drop-off on a Sunday. Is this possible?

Yes. From May 1st to September 30th, CanaDream is open on Sundays and the normal pick-up and drop-off times apply. From October 1st to April 30th, CanaDream are open on Sundays on request only and a fee of $375.00 per occurrence may apply. The CanaDream Edmonton location is closed on Sundays year round.

What is the security deposit at pick-up?

A refundable $1000.00 security deposit will be processed on a credit card during online check-in. This deposit must be made by credit card and will be refunded to the same card at drop off as long as the vehicle is returned in a clean and undamaged condition with all equipment and/or convenience kits returned.

Are we permitted to tow anything?

The CanaDream vehicles are not equipped with a hitch and CanaDream do not allow any towing. Your insurance coverage with CanaDream will not cover any kind of accident if you are towing anything.

Can I put a canoe or other objects on the roof of the vehicle?

CanaDream do not allow the transportation of canoes or other objects on the roofs of their vehicles. To prevent accidents, they do not install ladders on to their vehicles. There is also no coverage for any type of accident as a result of transporting an object on the roof of the vehicle.

Motorhome Generic FAQs

What papers do I require for renting the vehicle?

CanaDream require a valid driver’s license (must be valid until at least the day after drop-off day) for all drivers. In addition, they also require a passport for international guests or an ID card for US guests.

Do I need an International Driver’s license?

No. However, for translation purposes, an International Driver’s license will ensure ease of use in Canada and the United States.

What extra's do I need to pre-book on top of the rental?

Kitchen kits per booking and Linen kits per person are available to add on. Our Canada Experts will automatically add these two kits on as they are essentials, unless other wise advised by you. Kitchen kits consist of items such as cutlery, utensils, plates, 3 pots, dishclothes, tea towels etc. Linen kits consist of hand towel, bath towel, pillow, pillow case, fitted sheet & blanket

There are many other optional extra's such as Additional Driver, Child Seats, Lawn Chairs, Bike Racks for 4 bikes, Toaster, Electric Coffee Maker, Skyroam Solis Lite Hotspot, Platinum Package - includes CanaDream Valet Service, CanaDream Peace of Mind, Windshield Protection and Toilet Chemical.

What type of gas mileage can I expect with my RV?

As numerous conditions affect gas mileage (wind, hills, speed, driving habits, etc.), fuel consumption will vary according to the conditions. As a rough “rule of thumb”, you could budget about 25 litres/100 kilometres.

What is the Minimum Rental Age?

You must be at least 21 years old to rent a motorhome and hold a valid driver’s licence issued by your own country. This licence must be valid until at least one day after you drop off your vehicle.

Can I leave my suitcase at the pick-up location?

Yes. As long as you are picking up and dropping off at the same location, you are welcome to unpack your suitcase in your motorhome and leave it at the rental location. They are happy to store your suitcase until you return. There is no charge for this service.

How many people can travel in each motorhome?

This depends on the vehicle type. Canadian transport regulations state that each person travelling must be wearing a seatbelt. The number of people able to travel in each motorhome is dependent upon the number of seatbelts provided.

Are there radios and CD players in each vehicle?

There is a dash radio/cd player in every motorhome. While many of our vehicles also have an MP3 outlet, we are unable to guarantee that the vehicle you receive will have this feature. We suggest that you bring an FM adaptor if you wish to play your portable mp3 player in your vehicle.

Are TV/DVD players available in each vehicle?

CanaDream does not offer any TV’s or DVD players in any of our Motorhomes. We recommend renting one of the iPads or using a similar device for your video pleasure. Some of the CanaDream vehicles may have TVs installed in them however these are not for guest use.

What happens if I have a breakdown while travelling in the motorhome?

CanaDream provides you with 24-hour toll-free emergency assistance in the event of a breakdown or accident. One of the CanaDream technicians will be available to provide you with advice and help.

May I smoke in the vehicle?

No. If cigarette smoke is detected in the unit at drop-off, a $500.00 defuming and sanitizing charge will be applied.

Do you have RVs which accommodate more than 6 people?

CanaDream's largest RVs are designed to accommodate up to 6 people. This is determined not by the number of sleeping places in the RV, but by the number of seatbelts. Under Canadian law, every person seated in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt. The maximum number of seat belts in any of our vehicles is six.

Can I take the motorhome on a ferry in Canada?

Yes. Before boarding the ferry, you must comply with all regulations for the ferry you are travelling on. Please be aware that many ferries within Canada may refuse to carry motorhomes with a propane tank capacity of more than 65 litres. This is particularly true in the province of Quebec. Many of the Maxi Motorhomes (MHA) have been built for winter use and have propane tanks with a capacity of more than 65 litres. If you choose to travel in one of the MHA vehicles, we cannot guarantee that the vehicle you receive on the day of pick-up will have a propane tank smaller than 65 litres. If you are planning to travel on a ferry, please consider booking one of the Midi Motorhomes (MHB) as these vehicles are all equipped with propane tanks smaller than 65 litres. Our Deluxe Van Camper (DVC) and Super Van Camper (SVC) also have propane tanks which comply with ferry regulations.
