Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

Moose Jaw is a city in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. Actors tell the story of the city’s early Chinese immigrants and rumoured Al Capone connection at the underground Tunnels of Moose Jaw. A huge sculpture, Mac the Moose, stands by the Trans-Canada Highway. Colourful murals showing scenes from the city’s history adorn buildings downtown. South, the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village & Museum contains a prairie-built ship.

The site also displays antique cars and machinery, plus preserved buildings dating back to the days of early European settlers. Museums in town include a branch of the Western Development Museum, with a steam locomotive and vintage planes. The Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery offers rotating art exhibitions and local history displays. It sits in Crescent Park, which has winding paths, a waterfall and an outdoor pool. Along the Moose Jaw River, the Wakamow Valley is a sprawling park popular for hiking, canoeing and cross-country skiing. Southeast of town is the Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site, an old brick factory.
